Hi,
I'm pretty much new to Fudge. I played in one session about ten years ago but that's it.
I recently purchased the 10th Anniversary Edition of Fudge. I'll use this thread for questions I may have. I'm sure you folks can help me get a handle on the system. |

You came to the right place. We have a lot of people here who know fudge, and Maharvey is very helpful if you try to make your own thing. Just ask thelevitator.
Of course, the chatroom is much faster, and its often active. I'm Knaight or TwoArms over there. |

Okay, I've looked through some of the book. It looks like it may not be too hard to grasp.
I only glanced at the damage/wound stuff. I'll look more in depth and see if I need to ask you folks anything.
I don't like having numbered levels of Legendary. I think I'll extend the scale with words. |

Nah, it's pretty easy.
Lately I don't use levels beyond legendary. Legendary+ is simply legendary. This works fine and simplifies the arithmetic a little. If someone gets an amazing roll the GM can always take that into account. "It's really legendary..." |

You can just count the levels over Legendary as a negative modifier on the opposing roll.
Player A rolls Legendary+2 and that becomes just Legendary AND imposes a -2 effect modifier on player B's roll.

I'll be at a convention called Con Nooga in February. That's in Chattanooga.
I'm going to run a FUDGE adventure entitled Pirates of the Asteroid Belt.
Any suggestions on how to do a "space opera" thing? What will I need to take into consideration? |

So, here is the expanded scale I'm thinking of using
god-like
wondrous
legendary
amazing
------------
superb
great
good
fair
mediocre
poor
terrible
-----------
embarrasing
dismal
atrocious
abyssmal |

| That should work, although I would drop Wondrous under Legendary. |

No advice?
No hints? |

I suggest using pre-generated characters, providing the players a cheat sheet, and the famous "just fudge it". Enjoy your game! |

| Really, it is space opera. Run it like a sci-fi, and your check to see if it is scientifically possible is whether you can prove it isn't to yourself in five seconds. But yeah, pregenerated characters are a good idea as well. |
